6 weeks in Tokyo - Packing…part two (ni)
My Achilles heel when packing is liquids - the limits are unreasonable (IMO). But it is reality. Luckily, travel to Japan means I can easily purchase the vast majority of the products I use. I will be taking a few full-sized items in my checked bag, but that is largely just a half used full tube of toothpaste that should last us for the 6 weeks and a full sized sunblock I like.
I do love the stackers bags for packing liquids - particularly the stand up versions and the ones with clips.
As you can see below, there are a lot more than one ‘quart size’ bag, but there are two of us traveling - so it works. Honestly, as long as you separate two things in either different bins or bags (I have precheck, clear, global entry…all the things trying to make it easier), I haven’t had issue taking this through solo. Return trip or transferring say through Paris, and you want to make sure you have things in the correct size bags. This trip is direct, so we have some flexibility.
As I mentioned above, most of what I use I can get in Tokyo. BUT there is the flight and the first few days. I do like to have a few items with me and/or I’m using up some items to replace with new coming home.
On the flight, I love to have a little mini bag (the small blue one) for trips to the bathroom and/or to just have in my little fanny pack or one of the zillion pockets in my scottevest jacket. I keep wipes (sanitizing, bathroom, deodorant, and facewipes) and some evian facial spray. Keeping hydrated and feeling clean are essential for such a long flight - the Ursa Major facewipes smell amazing and are hydrating. Weleda skin food is my favorite lotion that lasts.
