Flying to D.C. for my visa appointment

Flying the Tuesday before Thanksgiving in the U.S. didn’t even register at the time I booked my flight. As I mentioned, I previously booked at Houston before seeing it was/may be only for those that live in Texas. Rebooked within 24 hours to D.C., so not a huge issue - just glad I could get an appointment!

Minneapolis airport was surprisingly not very busy - lots of families though. So I had a solid 2.5 hours in the lounge to work. I believe my flight was about $500 on Delta - fairly last minute booking and I could have booked for cheaper on Sun Country, but didn’t want to deal with them and I have (low) status with Delta, so get an exit row seat for free. Unfortunately, there are no airlines that would have gotten me in for a 9 am appointment, so am spending the night. I had a free night with Marriott, so decided to use that up!

Some extra forms I printed last minute, was my entire tax return from 2023, not just my cover sheet - just in case. Appointment is at 9am tomorrow, so hopefully I will get in and out quick enough where I can leave my backpack at the hotel. Apparently bags are not allowed at the application center and they make you pay $20 for a locker.

Will likely check into the lounge when I land in D.C. and have a late lunch. Going to spend my priority pass credit and get a couple sparkling waters and a hummus cup for dinner tonight. Free breakfast tomorrow and then back to the lounge in D.C. for lunch before heading home. Hopefully successful.

Unfortunately, my apostilled FBI background check has not arrived yet, so that is at least one item I will have to send in.
