Sun Protection

The Importance of Sunscreen

I’m pretty religious about sunscreen application (and reapplication) - along with clothing options to protect yourself from the sun. This seemed like the best place for me to start this blog!

Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays is essential for maintaining healthy skin and preventing skin cancer. Sunscreen acts as a shield, blocking UV radiation that can cause sunburn, premature aging, and serious skin conditions. Whether you’re spending a day at the beach or just running errands, applying sunscreen daily is a simple yet crucial step in your skincare routine.

Below are some of my favorite sunscreen/sun protections.

*The amazon links will provide a small bonus for me at no cost to you. Other items are just those I love and want to share.

Supergoop

Unseen sunscreen - This is really my go-to for everyday, all the time wear. I absolutely LOVE the feel of it.

Trader joe’s makes a similar version to this, but I’ve found I have to reapply more frequently…but the price can’t be beat, so it another great option!

The smell of this is absolutely amazing - light and not ‘sunblock-y’. I keep this with me when I go out for an easy re-apply. It also doesn’t count toward the liquid limits for carry-on. I’ll show some pictures of my liquids packing at some point!

Downside is that it does melt and get stuck in a kinda un-usable clump in the lid - so don’t leave in a hot car - or if you do, leave it upright. I just scraped it out and put it into a screw top travel container. Still works!

This is essentially the only ‘foundation’ type make-up I use. It is a slight tint (comes in more shade now!) and a bit of shimmer. Love it for when I have to present at conferences or just want a little extra color.

This I actually got in a supergoop gift pack that I bought because it had the unseen and glow screen. While I don’t use it often, I do love it for a bit of extra cover or as a bit of a shine eliminator.

Where my supergoop obsession began - I loved the original formula and was quite upset when they modified the formula (not really, in the grand scheme of things. But you know, it was like new coke…), but I think they’ve gotten closer to the original and I still buy it.

Has a lovely and light smell. Works great and doesn’t leave a white cast.

Here is the liquid version and the spray version. The spray version IS recyclable - that is the only reason I’m okay with it (many spray versions of suncreen are NOT in recyclable containers). I have purchased it for our 6 week trip to Japan coming up in August
